How much of what we do and believe has been handed down by the traditions of men?
This short Bible Study was on Prayer.
When we look at God’s Word,
the Holy Bible, we find Truth.
Why do Christians pray with their hands folded?
What does the Bible say?
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
1 Timothy 2:8 KJV
Thus will I bless thee while I live:
I will lift up my hands in thy name.
Psalms 63:4 KJV
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.
Psalms 134:2 KJV
Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.
Lamentations 3:41 KJV
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
Psalms 28:2 KJV
Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that faint for hunger in the top of every street.
Lamentations 2:19 KJV
And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle,
I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the Lord my God,
Ezra 9:5 KJV
And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the Lord,
he arose from before the altar of the Lord,
from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
1 Kings 8:54 KJV
Solomon….and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
(2 Chronicles 6:13)
I found only one (1) verse (in 2 places/same verse) with folded hands, in the Bible, that was not related to prayer.
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Proverbs 6:10 and Proverbs 24:33
Most important is our hearts.
And, we pray while driving, walking, going about our day.
God wants to hear from us continuously. Relationship.
The question that arose from this Study was that we are TAUGHT to fold our hands.
Yet,
It’s obviously a Tradition of Man, and not in the Bible.
